Nothing Common About the Boston Common

As much as we've enjoyed our lazy mornings, I was determined to get us out of the house before lunch today. We had big plans for a day at the Boston Common park and with the promise of feeding more birds, my Bird Man obliged. I'm not sure if he was more excited about the train ride, the muffin, or his date with the pigeons.

After another train ride full of oohs and aahs, we arrived at the famous Boston Common. Multiple people have told us we had to visit and we're so glad we did. We loved it so much that we'll probably return in the next few days. Our first stop was the playground and I think Apollo was hoping his frog friend would turn into a princess...or more likely, a dinosaur!

Here is the look of a confused, little boy. He did not understand what was on the frog's face and was quite concerned the frog needed help getting it off. He cracks me up!

It took him quite awhile to climb on the playground. After many minutes and with much hesitation, he joined the gazillion big kids who were on it and had a blast.

His dates didn't disappoint and showed up - Apollo was quite the gentleman and covered the bill.

Then we had an impromptu picnic lunch next to an ornate carousel. And of course we couldn't just watch the carousel! With the promise of a ride after eating all of his lunch, Apollo gobbled it down and carefully picked out which animal he would ride.

I was elated that he sat on the zebra all by himself and was quite comfortable, especially since he was very on edge during the rides at the harbor. He is slowly gaining more confidence and trust in me, not just my actions but my words. In turn, he is gaining more and more of my heart (even with these faces, ha!).

After admiring the swan boats from the bridge, Apollo decided he wanted in on that fun so we hopped on for our first boat ride together. It was so peaceful and we sang the Ugly Duckling song as we passed by several real swans in the lake.

We walked around some more, found the shopping street, and briskly passed by Hermes and Escada to Nordstrom Rack and H&M. That's how we roll! Dinner, a bath that nearly never ended, and new stylist training rounded out the night.

Tally up another wonderful day full of giggles and tantrums (let's be completely honest!) for this pair!
