Post Op Day 3

9PM
And just like a flip of a light switch, our little warrior man was up and at’em (after a sponge bath) with his first steps which turned into a walk, then a bike ride, and finally play time in the play room. Dr. Emani stopped by and is so pleased with Apollo’s progress and mentioned his chest tubes could come out tomorrow!! Please oh please let it be true! They’re causing him so much discomfort like in June so the quicker they’re out, the better he’ll feel and the faster we’ll be on our way home! We’re so thankful for such a wonderful day of rest, advancement, and fun!!

5PM
Apollo’s restless nights finally caught up with him and he’s spent almost the entire afternoon like this.

We had planned to give him a sponge bath and take a walk but the minutes keep ticking away. Dr. Marx stopped by and raved about his progress as we beamed along with him! There’s even talk of those horrible chest tubes coming out in a day or so. I don’t want to get too excited because there has to be extra caution. If they’re pulled too quickly,  fluid could build up in his lungs. This will be at the top of my prayer request tonight!

And our little warrior baby had her surgery with Dr. Emani and it went beautifully! She has such amazing parents who I have quickly bonded with and adore. They’re now part of our close knit Boston family. Please keep praying for her especially since these next 2 days are absolutely critical.

11AM
Apollo says Happy Monday everyone!!

Our little champion continues to do amazing! At 10 this morning he was released from the CICU and moved to the cardiac care floor. They keep weaning him down on oxygen and his sats are holding steady which is great!  Still has those pesky chest tubes which cause him quite a bit of pain and frustration, but his drainage continues to decrease which is also positive. We are very fortunate to have our own room in the “new” area. He is currently enjoying “A Bugs Life” and drifting in and out of sleep. We regularly see him staring at the wall with the pictures of his siblings and drawings that they made for him.

Thank you all again for the prayers and well wishes! They are extremely comforting and uplifting!
